Sending an item isn't quite as easy as you think. There are different classes of mail that determine how an item is supposed to be handled and sent out to its recipient. However, all the restrictions can get confusing. Check out this guide to the classes of mail so that your mail gets to its destination. Priority Mail Express. This is the fastest way to get mail delivered by the USPS. It's an expedited service that guarantees one to two-day delivery by 3:00 p.m. Plus, it also gives you $100 of insurance coverage. Priority Mail. This type of delivery is required for certain items. Any handwritten or typewritten mail, bills or financial information, personal or personalized business correspondence, and any sealed materials are all required to be sent through priority mail. First-Class Mail. If you're mailing a rectangular, flat, and rigid item, then you're likely going to mail it through first class mail. If you're mailing a letter, it must not weigh more than 3.5 ounces. If you're mailing a package, it must not weigh more than 13 ounces. Prices for first class mail are the same no matter where you're sending them. Standard Mail. Flyers, newsletter, and small packages are sent through standard mail. These pieces must be sent in bulk with no less than 200 pieces or 50 pounds of mail. Also, keep in mind that the maximum weight is 16 ounces, and you can only send standard mail to places within the U.S. Know that your mail is getting to its destination.
