If you are interested in giving back this holiday season, consider these ways to volunteer your time and care.
1) Volunteer at your local school.
Unfortunately, educators are some of the most overworked and underappreciated members of society. Whether you are a parent or not, everyone should recognize the importance of educating and molding our youth. That's why it's so important to give our teachers and educators the support they need. Volunteer at a local school and offer assistance by reading to students, tutoring them, or simply chaperoning them on the playground or on a field trip. Your help will take some of the pressure off overburdened school systems and will help the children in your community get the education they deserve.
2) Visit senior centers.
Unfortunately, residents at senior homes do not always receive regular visitors. Whether they have busy families or simply negligent ones, seniors are often lonely and desirous of companionship.
