Southern California Traffic: Expect Delays When The President Visits

Expect traffic when the president comes to town!

It's no secret that traffic is a nightmare in Southern California. When rush hour hits, Los Angeles and Orange County freeways become parking lots. It takes double if not triple the time to reach your destination. While rush hour is a hassle for Los Angelinos, nothing compares to the gridlock that occurs when the President of the United States comes to town. The presidential motorcade along with lookie-loos, makes traffic heavier than normal. With the 2016 presidential election coming up, the campaign trail may affect traffic trends. In February, President Obama visited Los Angeles where he headed to a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Hancock Park. Along with fundraisers, the television and film industry bring presidential hopefuls and President Obama to the region. During his trip in February, President Obama met with Ellen DeGeneres for a taping in Burbank. Along with his visit, President Obama brought road closures and traffic all across the city. During his two-day stay, the president closed roads throughout the entire city for several hours at a time. Roads were closed near the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), in Mid-City near Los Angeles High School, in Burbank between Olive Avenue and North Pass Avenue, and all throughout the Westside from Hancock Park to Santa Monica. As the campaign trail heats up, be on the lookout for traffic trends. As the president and hopeful candidates visit the Southland, be sure to avoid areas with road closures. Steer clear of the Southern California traffic.
