Stay Safe This Halloween

Try out these tips this Halloween to have a safe night.

With Halloween less than a week away, your whole family is likely in a state of excitement. However, it's important that you do not forget about the safety of your home and loved ones in the face of all the excitement. Make sure you take these safety tips this Halloween to protect the things and people that matter most. Trick-or-Treating Safety
  • Younger trick-or-treaters should be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Older trick-or-treaters don't need parental supervision, but they should be accompanied by a group of friends that you know and trust.
  • Have your trick-or-treater carry a phone so you can keep in touch and track their location while they are out.
  • Review "stranger danger" rules with your child and make sure they know to never enter a stranger's home or vehicle.
  • Ask your child not to eat anything until you can inspect their candy for safety. During your inspection, discard any unwrapped, unlabeled, or unfamiliar treats.
Home Safety
  • Clear away potential tripping hazards from your front yard, lawn, and walkways.
  • Illuminate your front door and the pathway leading up to it.
  • Do not decorate using real candles; this increases your home's risk for fire and your guests' risk for burns.
  • Do not hang heavy decorations overhead. They could cause injuries or property damage if they fall.
  • Keep your car and outdoor furniture inside your garage and home. This will ensure that they are not vandalized or stolen by Halloween pranksters.
Pet Safety
  • Keep your pets away from the front door. The constant arrival or trick-or-treaters and party guests could rile up your pets, making them more likely to run away or act aggressively.
  • Do not feed your pets any Halloween treats. Many human foods (such as chocolate) are actually toxic for cats and dogs.
These are some of the safety suggestions you should employ this Halloween.     Are you looking for assistance with your personal shipping needs this Halloween? If so, turn to the experts at MDS, Inc.
